However, fall is also an important time to check in on your roof and make sure it is properly prepared for our Cleveland winters. They don't call it Lake Effect for nothing, right? Our simple roofing checklist will make your life that much simpler, so that you can easily cross roofing off of your to-do list and rest assured that your roof will be winter ready.

Roofing Maintenance Checklist

1. If you have any lingering storm damage on your roof or siding, now is the time to make sure those repairs are completed. Heavy winter snowfalls can exacerbate pre-existing damage and could lead to the need for an entirely new roof or affect other parts of your home through issues with flooding. If you've been waiting, don't wait any longer!

2. Do a quick walk around your home – keep your eye out for shingles that may look missing or loose. Additionally, look to make sure all of your gutters are sitting properly on your home. If one is loose or has been knocked out of place, it should be repaired or replaced before melting snow puts more pressure on an already damaged gutter.

3. Call us to come out and complete a full inspection. We do not recommend that homeowners inspect their roofs themselves – other than looking for obvious damage from the ground – due to increased risk of harm to the homeowner and the possibility of accidental damage to the roof. If you notice a problem, it is prudent to hire a certified, professional company rather than attempting the repair yourself.
